Home

Morgan and I made it in to see Rose at 1:00 am Monday. That is 23 hours after we boarded the train in Leon. We found Rose to be fine but in a great deal of pain. She has a long recovery ahead of her.

Morgan and I have both decided to someday finish the Camino. We have done 500 of 800 km. Most Europeans chose to do the Camino in several stages. So, we are by no means diminishing our Camino.

It has been a great time. We are both a great deal wiser and we have learned how little one truly need from the material world. I am 16 pounds lighter than I was September 13.

We will keep this blog alive and will start writing when we start walking again.

Thanks for checking in from time to time. We have had 8,000 page views. I promise to learned to spell before the next trip.

Fall River bound

Morgan and I are going to Madrid by train Sunday morning. We catch a flight there and will be home Sunday night.

Mark says Rose is doing fine but it will be a long recovery.  The full staff will be there to help.

Thanks for all the good wishes. I will pass them on to Rose.

God Bless

Don and Morgan

Camino on hold

‎Last night Rose fell and broke her hip. They operated on her Friday night. She is doing fine with her new pin.

Morgan and I are working now with the travel agent to go home as soon as possible.

Tour - Cathedral Leon

We toured the massive Leon Cathedral. It was built in the 1200s. They put it up in 50 years. At the time Leon had a population of just 5,000.

I liked it better than the one in Burgos because it had one massive open room.

Saturday am

‎There was an entire row of converted vans selling cheese and meat.

Market

‎When we went to bed last night the square in front of the cathedral was empty. This morning there is a farmers market there. Had my fill of oranges.

Soap Man

‎Buddy was selling soap on the street. He said this is his soap making machine. Yah right. I wonder what else it could be used for.‎

Rock

‎I'm sorry but a Keltic band without Joey Kidson is just noise.

Bar scene by the numbers.

‎Argyle Street, Halifax = 1
George Street, St. John's = 5
Crescent Street, Montreal (F1 weekend) = 20
Leon, Spain (San Froilàn festival) = 100

Hey don't bother defending your town. You can't argue with the numbers. I'm telling you so you better listen. This place is a sea of people drifting between hundreds of bars. I bet they will still ‎be going in the morning. Nuts.

‎That's $2.02/l. Not as bad as I thought. To save fuel 90+% of the cars are standard transmissions. ‎

Data center.

‎We walked by this bank data center on our way into Leon. Funny thing there was a small dog on the lawn barking at us. Tight security. Also, check out the parking lot. It is very common to see shaded parking here.

Camino bridge

‎The Camino brings big money to northern Spain. The government also spends a great deal on Camino infrastructure. This is a foot bridge to cross the highway east of Leon.

Don MacKenzie

Two deep questions

‎If a tree falls in the woods and there is no one there to hear it does it make a sound?

If your boots are on the balcony and there is no one there to smell them do they stink?
